01
The idea
I wanted to explore how a messaging app can feel calm and familiar from the very first launch: a quick phone number sign-up, a clear empty state that guides you to import contacts, and chats that are always easy to find.
02
What I did
I designed the full flow: phone number entry with a country picker, number confirmation, code verification, birthday and profile setup, the chat list with filters, search, a conversation screen, new chat, group and contact creation, and settings with profile.
03
Research & inspiration
I compared popular messaging apps and focused on the moments where people often get stuck: verifying their number, finding a chat and creating a group. Each of these flows got step-by-step screens with clear states, including typing and keyboard states.
04
Design process
A white interface with a single green accent keeps the app light and familiar. Reusable components for chat items, badges, search bars, buttons and sheets made it easy to design every state consistently, from empty to typing.

05
What I learned
Designing every state, not just the happy path, showed me how much small details like empty states, keyboard views and confirmation sheets matter. Next I would design voice and video calls and message reactions.
